Description

Burton Wood, a township and a chapelry in Warrington .parish, Lancashire, adjacent to the Sankey Canal and the Liverpool and Manchester railway, 1 mile S of Collins-Green railway station, and 5 miles NW by N of Warrington. There is a post, money order, and telegraph office under Newton-le-Willows. Acreage, 4193; population, 1584. Dallam, Bewsey, and Collins-Green are comprised in this township. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Liverpool; net value, £200 with residence. Patron, the Rector of Warrington. The church will seat 250. There is also a Roman Catholic church and a Wesleyan chapel.
