Apesthorpe, or Habblesthorpe, a parish and a small village in Notts, near the river Trent, 1 mile E of Leverton railway station, and 5 1/2 miles E of East Retford. The parish contains the hamlet of Coates. Post town, Lincoln; money order and telegraph office, Sturton-le-Steeple. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Southwell, joined to that of North Leverton; joint net value, £200 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Southwell. There is no church now in existence, but the churchyard is still used for burial.
